Holliday Runs At Nationals
The Doane College Tiger track and field teams posted strong outings at the 2013 Indoor Track and Field NAIA Championships with the women finishing fourth in the team standings and the men taking fifth. There were 53 teams to score on the women’s side and 51 on the men’s side. Doane athletes combined to earn 16 All-American honors, finishing with Top 8 finishes in their respective events.
“Again the men’s multi-events got things rolling for us. Rob (Keeney) and Kale (Wolken) had outstanding performances and then Kale had only two hours to rest before competing in the long jump and he took 4th in that event. The upperclassmen did a great job, especially Zack Lindsley. He came up big with two personal best performances, which included breaking his own school record mark in the shot put. In the end you start to look where you could have gotten one more point to get on the team podium but our staff is extremely proud of what we accomplished.”
“Normally we get stronger with outdoors because of the different events. You never know what is going to happen but if things go the right way for us, we could be even stronger if we stay healthy and get the expected return from some athletes who missed indoors with injuries. Again, we are young in some areas but the excitement from this meet will only motivate the kids to do more.”
Area placer was Jarrid Holliday formerly of Minden High School competing in the 1,000-meters. Holliday placed seventh overall in a time of 2:31.10.
