Ice Skating Planned For Minden’s 100 Years Of Lights Celebration

Minden will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Christmas lights adorning the courthouse this winter. In observance of the occasion, the 100 years of lights committee is planning attractions and activities to fill the holiday season. Among the festivities will be a 40 foot by 50 foot artificial ice rink placed on the square.
“We want something big and unique to bring people to our community and keep them here. We want to give them something to do while they’re here,” Chamber of Commerce Administrator Marcia Davis said.
“The nice thing with this is, it’s a synthetic rink so the weather won’t affect it. It could be 70 degrees and we could be skating,” Kevin Krull said. “The placement of it is not for sure, but we will have it on the square because we want to be able to take advantage of the downtown retail and lights; the environment of being downtown.”
