Many libraries remain closed to the public at this time, but that isn’t stopping the Summer Reading Program. Local libraries are utilizing access to Reader Zone provided by the Nebraska Regional Library Systems and the Nebraska Library Commission as well as some creative thinking to keep patrons of all ages engaged. This year’s theme is ‘Imagine Your Story’.
Jensen Memorial Library has a mix of reading challenges, take home activities, community scavenger hunts, and live virtual events to engage patrons’ imagination. For the reading portion of the program, participants of all ages are challenged to read for 1,000 minutes.
Readers will keep track of their time on the Reader Zone website or free app using code ‘458GT’. Once readers hit the 500 minute mark they will earn a free book. Contact the library to arrange a time to choose and pick up your free book. Everyone who reaches the 1,000 minute reading goal will be entered for prize drawings at the end of the summer.
