Inheritance Tax Fund To Pay County’s Share Of KAAPA Refund

The Kearney County Board of Supervisors approved a motion to pay the $82,264.34 owed to KAAPA Ethanol for the 2007 refund from the county’s inheritance tax fund account at the regular meeting held on Tuesday.
The supervisors discussed paying the KAAPA refund from the county’s general fund, however after discussion determined the $82,264.34 refund would severely deplete the county’s general fund reserve, which is used to cover the county’s expenses.
“We have enough in the inheritance fund to spend it,” Supervisor Dick McBride told the board. “We have always saved this for emergencies…Well, here we are.”
