KCHS Board Of Trustees Discuss Physician Recruitment Efforts

The Kearney County Health Services board of trustees met on Wednesday, March 27 for its March monthly meeting at the hospital.

The major topic of discussion was physician recruitment with the June departure of Dr. Doug Althouse and Nurse Practitioner Amanda Thom.

Chief Executive Officer Fred Meis informed the board of the ongoing discussions he has been having with physicians to replace Althouse.

Meis told the board currently he is in conversation with three physicians. Two are currently physicians from Pennsylvania and another from Kansas and finally a new resident doctor with a year of residency before he could join the staff.

Also Meis has conducted interviews with two APRN (Nurse Practitioners) to replace Thom and that position would not be filled until August because of necessary completion of certification.
