KCHS Trustees Elect Officers
The Kearney County Health Services Board of Trustees began their January 26 meeting with an election of officers. Dick McBride was reelected as President and Steve Olson was elected as Secretary.
Kendra Brown, CNO presented a proposal for purchase of an air flow humidifier. The device provides humidified high flow oxygen to patients. KCHS has recently been treating more COVID patients in their facility and research shows this technology is beneficial to those patients. The device can also be utilized for patients with other respiratory distress as well.
Currently KCHS doesn’t have anything that humidifies oxygen or forces oxygen in like this device does. The proposed model utilizes the air in the room and uses a motor to pressurize the air to put into the patient. Another advantage of the proposed device is that it can be used on adults and pediatric patients both. After the board’s questions about the device were answered, the purchase was approved.
