Kearney County 4-H’ers Go To Washington

ut our government first-hand by attending the Citizen Washington Focus (CWF) trip to our nation’s capitol. CWF is a 4-H citizenship program that takes place at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center just outside of Washington D.C.
The youth that attended had been working for two years to earn their way to the program. Rhonda Herrick, Extension Educator for Kearney and Franklin Counties knows how hard they worked to be able to participate in the program. This was her seventh year to attend the program as the group’s sponsor.
“They have to fundraise for two years. The trip costs each kid $2,400 so it is a big commitment,” Herrick stated. The group meets monthly during the planning phase and organizes group fundraising opportunities.
