Kearney County Board Reorganizes

The Kearney County Board of Supervisors held their annual reorganization meeting immediately following the regular board meeting at the courthouse on January 3.
Richard Schwenka was re-appointed as the board’s chairman and Richard McBride was re-appointed to the vice chairman position.
Tim Hansen was added to the Emergency Management Board, filling the vacancy left by Shane Bock. Herbert Cox was added to the Fort Kearny Restoration Board and Schwenka agreed to remain as the county liaison to the Federal Grant Reuse Committee.
Jody Casper was appointed to fill the vacancy left on the Planning Commission by a member who moved out of Kearney County.
The Board of Adjustments was left as is, along with the other commissions under the county’s jurisdiction.
Board member Roy John Nelson was met with boisterous laughter, but no takers when he asked, “Anybody want the Board of Equalization?”
