Kearney County Cleanup In Minden

The 2012 Kearney County Great American Clean Up took place on Friday and Saturday, May 18-19, with vehicles lined up at the drop-off site from the planned opening. By 10 a.m., the large collection bins were nearing capacity and needed to be pressed down repeatedly to make room as the loads kept coming.
Strong winds made unloading difficult for many at the drop-off point, and county employees assisted dumpers with getting in and out of the site safely and efficiently. So many turned out for the free junk disposal that the site had to be shut down early. Several vehicles had to be turned away when the bins were deemed full before the 8 p.m. closure time.
