Kearney County Relay For Life Event Starts Friday In Minden

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event will be held at the Outdoor Classroom north of the football field in Minden on this Friday and Saturday, August 2nd and 3rd. The twelve hour  event begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and ends at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. Participants will be walking around the path at the Outdoor Classroom throughout the entire event.
Event Chairperson for Kearney County is Toni Bockerman. She has been participating in Relay for Life for eight years, six of them as event chairperson. “I lost my father six years ago this fall to cancer. He loved Relay and that’s what lead me to want to be more involved,” Bockerman said.
The Kearney County Relay For Life has a goal to raise $45,000.  All the money raised by the event goes to the American Cancer Society for medical research funding, patient services and educational programs.
Money people give during Relay For Life may provide funding a researcher needs to make new discoveries towards finding a cure or help educate people about the importance of early and preventative screening.
