Lady Cats Fall In Quarterfinals Of FKC

The Axtell Lady Cats had their run into the 2011 Fort Kearny Conference girls tournament ended in the quarterfinals on Feb. 1.
The eighth-seeded Cats met the top-seeded Amherst Broncos in the 37th annual FKC tourney in Amherst with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
Axtell scored a season-high 63 points but it wouldn’t quite be enough as the Broncos held on for the 70-63 victory.
Axtell (7-11) was led in the loss by four players reaching double figures. Hailey Kring led the way for the Lady Cats with a team-high 19 points followed by Shala Nelson and Mariah Popple with 13 points each and Sara Fecht adding 10.
