Lady Cats Fall To Alma In D1-9 Subdistrict Semifinal

The Axtell Lady Cats basketball team had its 2010-11 season come to an end in the semifinals of the Class D1-9 subdistrict in Minden at C.L. Jones Gymnasium.
Axtell entered the subdistrict as the second-seeded team with a record of 8 wins and 12 losses.
The Cats semifinal opponent was the 5-15 third-seeded Alma Cardinals. The Cardinals were able upset Axtell by six points, 56-50, to earn a spot in the D1-9 final against Kenesaw on Feb. 17 with the winner advancing to play for a spot in the 2011 girls state tournament in Lincoln.
The Lady Cats end their season with a record of 8 wins and 13 losses.
The Cats were led in the defeat by Hailey Kring with a team-high 15 points, three steals and three rebounds followed by Shala Nelson with 13 points, three rebounds and two steals.
