Lady Cats Open Year With Two Victories

The Axtell Lady Cats volleyball team opened its 2010 season with a pair of victories at the Eustis-Farnam triangular on Thursday.
Axtell defeated the home team, Eustis-Farnam and also downed Elm Creek both in straight sets.
Axtell opened with a 25-14 and 25-18 win over the Knights. Axtell had a balanced hitting attack with Mariah Popple leading the way with seven kills on 10/14 attempts. Lexi Klauz-Rhode was 10/11 hitting with six kills and Shala Nelson was 12/14 with six kills.
Shala Fox and Gabby Knoble handled the setting chores. Fox was a perfect 23/23 setting with 10 assists. Knoble was 12/13 setting with five assists.
