Lady Cats Top Wilcox-Hildreth

In a contest in which Axtell never trailed but the final result was in doubt until well into the fourth period, the Lady Cats prevailed over Wilcox-Hildreth 35-24 on January 17 (a day earlier than scheduled due to expected inclement weather) in Wilcox. The win for Axtell, its tenth in a row against their conference and neighboring rivals, lifted the Cats to 5-10. The Lady Falcons dropped to 6-7.
Axtell led after the first period 7-2. The game was tied at 2-2 after Camille Fishell hit the Cats first bucket at 4:45 and Brooke Quadhamer followed with a basket for W-H at 3:00. Axtell scored the last five points of the quarter, three of them on a long field goal by Erica Bertrand just before the horn sounded.
The Cats outscored the Falcons 10-7 in the second quarter for a halftime lead of 17-9. Abby Quadhamer had five points for W-H in the period and five different players scored two points each for Axtell.
