Lady Whippets are SWC Champs

The Minden Whippets volleyball team traveled to Cozad on Saturday to compete in the 2011 Southwest Conference tournament.
The Lady Whippets came away with the SWC championship downing rival Ogallala in the finals.
Minden improved its record to 6-2 on the season after picking up three more victories.
The Whippets opened their tourney by taking on the Ainsworth Bulldogs in the first round. Minden defeated Ainsworth in two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-8.
Minden was led by Hallie Bauer with a team-high five kills followed by Alaina Boudreau and Carlie Bauer with three each while Ali Rowse, Bailey Petersen and Sydney Stadler had two each.
Nicole Stewart had a team-best and season-high eight ace serves followed by Boudreau with four and Rowse one.
Stadler had an ace block while Anisha Kuehn and Hallie Bauer had three digs each. Boudreau added seven serve receives in the match.
Next up for the Whippets were the Gothenburg Swedes in the semifinals. Minden took care of business downing the Swedes two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-9.
Hallie Bauer and Boudreau combined for 18 kills in the Gothenburg match as each player had nine. Carlie Bauer added five kills followed by Petersen with four and Stadler three.
Rowse finished the match with a team-high 27 assists with Boudreau adding two and Stadler one.
Carlie Bauer had a squad-leading ten serve receives and ten digs. Boudreau added six serve receives and Rowse and Chelsey Miller with six digs each. Petersen and Boudreau each recorded one ace block.
Minden finished off its day on Saturday by facing the Ogallala Indians in the finals. Minden came out on top in two close sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-18.
