Lady Whippets Finish Fourth In Class C-1

The Minden Lady Whippets basketball team put a wrap on its 2010-11 season on Saturday morning playing the Class C-1 girls consolation to finish up its run through the 2011 Nebraska Girls State Basketball Tournament held in Lincoln.
The Whippets would meet up with the Sandy Creek Cougars in the third/fourth place game held at Lincoln Southwest High School. The Cougars broke open a close contest at half and pulled away from Minden for the 62-45 victory.
“The team appreciated all the fans support and those who attended the state tournament,” stated Minden head coach Rick Chramosta. “The support was in Lincoln and throughout the season.”
Minden ends its year with a record of 21-4 and a fourth place finish in the C-1 girls field.
The Whippets and Cougars both looked a little slow to warm up with the early start time but Sandy Creek built a four point lead, 8-4 with a three-pointer.
Minden answered back with baskets from Bailie Muller, Hallie Bauer and a three-pointer from Jamie Kissinger lift Minden into the lead, 11-10. The Cougars were able to make a pair of free throws to go ahead 12-11 entering the second period.
In the second, Sandy Creek would increase its lead to eight points, 21-13, with 4:47 left in the first half but here came the Whippets. Jamie Kissinger started the rally with a bucket followed by the state-record holder for three-pointers made in a season, Brooke Kissinger, with a three to cut the lead back down to 21-18.
