Letter from the Mayor
It appears there is light at the end of the tunnel. Due to COVID-19, in late March, 2020, we closed our city buildings to the public while striving to maintain our city services. Beginning April 1, 2020, we honored Governor Ricketts’ executive order implementing special provisions regarding the Open Meetings Act. On April 6, 2020, we began operating our city council meetings via video conferencing and have been doing so since that date.
The governor has now waived that executive order. Effective July 1, 2020, we will resume holding our city council meetings in the council chambers. Furthermore, we have now reopened other city buildings such as City Hall, the library and the swimming pool. Each have opened under modified provisions. I am sure you will agree, all of this is good news; however, all is not back to normal. The coronavirus pandemic remains, and we must continue to exercise good judgment, to follow Governor Ricketts directed health measures and recommendations for physical distancing, to wear a mask and to practicing good hygiene.
