Lewis, Raffety Are B-3 District Champs

The Minden Whippet wrestling team completed its 2011 regular season on Friday and Saturday when they traveled to Aurora to wrestle in the Class B-3 district meet.
The Whippets placed eighth in the team standings with 45 points. Central City won the district title with a team total of 257.5 followed by Schuyler with 187 and Adams Central 138.
Minden was able to qualify two individuals for the 2011 Nebraska State Wrestling Championship Feb. 17-19 in Omaha at the Qwest Center.
Bryce Lewis and Jack Raffety were both district champions for the Whippets at 160 and 152 pounds.
Lewis was a 2010 state runner up while Raffety earned his first medal placing sixth.
The following are the individual results for all the Minden wrestlers in their respectively weight classes:
103: Dyllan Kuehn lost his first match on Friday in the quarterfinals to Fletcher of Fairbury by a technical fall 17-0 decision. On Saturday in the wrestle backs, Kuehn was knocked out of the tournament with a 14-5 decision loss to Gilliland of Adams Central.
