Lewis, Raffety Medal At Cozad

The Minden Whippet varsity and reserve wrestling teams took to the mat in to open its 2010-11 season on Saturday competing in the Cozad Invitational.
The Whippets wrestled only two in the varsity portion of the meet and came away with a first and second place wrestler.
Bryce Lewis claimed the 171 pound title breezing through his class with four wins. Lewis opened with a pin over Divis of Wahoo in 3:05 followed by a pin win over Malcom of Wanueta-Palisade in 1:11. In the semifinals, Lewis won a 6-2 decision over Matthies of Sidney to earn a spot in the finals. In the finals, Lewis won a 5-0 decision over DeGarmo of Seward to win the weight division.
Jack Raffety claimed the Whippets other medal, earning a silver in the 160 pound class after losing in the final.
