Life Long Fair Advocate To Be Honored As Grand Marshal
A Minden native who has devoted endless hours to ensure the success of the Kearney County fair will have a fitting tribute for his 33 years of volunteer service.
Larry Wilcox, of Minden, has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshal for the Nebraska State Fair parade on Thursday, September 2.
A different Grand Marshal is selected for each night of the state fair, said Jana Kruger, State Fair Parade Chairman.
“We feel it’s a great way to honor people for their community service and support,” said Kruger. “We’re very excited about Larry as our Grand Marshal, he will be the first selected from Minden.”
Nominations for Grand Marshal were received from across the state and were open to individuals who have outstanding ties with their County Fair. Wilcox was nominated by the Kearney County Ag Society for his dedication to the Kearney County fair.
He has also served on the Nebraska Fair Managers Board and was asked to represent the fair board during the recent decision to move the Nebraska State Fair from Lincoln to Grand Island.
