Lillian Poague

 A Funeral Service for Lillian “Faye” Poague was held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Pastor Craig Cedar officiating.  Interment will immediately follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska.

The funeral service was livestreamed via the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Homes Facebook page. 

Lillian “Faye” Poague, 94 years of age, of Wilcox, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.  Faye was born on August 17, 1927, south of Orleans, Nebraska, in Harlan County, Nebraska, the eldest of two children, born to Alvin Fredrick and Elizabeth Mary (Sell) Russell. She received her education from Long Island Public Schools in Long Island, Kansas, graduating with the class of 1945.

On February 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Poague at Phillipsburg, Kansas. The couple were blessed with two daughters: Rebecka and Melinda. The family made their home in Wilcox, where Faye was employed at Becton Dickinson from 1967 to 1986. Faye loved children and took great pride and joy in babysitting children for many years. She also cleaned area houses for many years. In retirement, the couple enjoyed attending auctions, Country Music Festivals, and helping with the Holdrege Country Music Organization. On May 30, 2009, Faye was preceded in death by Robert. 

Faye loved antiques and enjoyed collecting crocks, roosters, and miniature shoes. She was also skilled in embroidery. 

She was a faithful member of the Wilcox Community Church and enjoyed the friendships made through the Wilcox Birthday Coffee Club.

Besides her husband and parents; she was preceded in death by; two sons, John and James, in infancy; son-in-law, Keith Carlson; and her brother, Floyd Russell and his wife, Margie.

Faye leaves to celebrate her life, her two daughters: Rebecka Carlson; and Melinda Ferree, both of Wilcox; two granddaughters: Kaylee Yetter and her husband, Shane of Broken Bow, Nebraska; and Taylor Rothell and her husband, Ian of Olathe, Kansas; three great-grandchildren: Lillian Mae Yetter; Asher Rothell; and Avett Rothell; along with extended family members, and many special friends.

A Visitation was held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Faye’s honor and kindly suggested to the Wilcox Community Church, the Wilcox Fire Department, or the Wilcox CIA.
