The Minden Country Club and the Minden boys golf team hosted the 2017 Minden JV Invitational golf meet on April 10. At the start of the tournament, the air temperature was 47 degrees with a north win at 20 mph. These weather elements made for a challenging day. The format of the tournament was new this year. Minden’s course was transformed into an executive course. Holes were anywhere from 150 yards up to 240 yards and played as par 3s and 4s. This allowed the more inexperienced players an opportunity to work solely on approach shots and short game shots. Grand Island Northwest claimed the team title with a 329 with Kearney Catholic in a distant second with 352. Minden was seventh with a 505 for the meet.
Minden junior Jacob Luff finished 15th overall carding a 92 for the day. Markus Ramsey was second for the Dawgs, shooting a 131 followed by Will Werner with a 132. John Kucharski rounded out the Minden scoring shooting a 150.
