Mia Malcom of Minden is proving that dedication, practice, and a positive attitude pay off in the world of shooting sports. The young shooter has been participating in competitions across the country including the USAYESS National Junior Clay Target Championships in San Antonio, Texas where she earned three gold medals and one silver medal in June. Her father, Ryan Malcom, introduced her to the world of shooting sports.
“He wanted to do it as a kid and didn’t get to because they didn’t offer it at that time. So I tried it out and loved it so I kept shooting. Then I got into some competitions,” Mia explained. “I just love the sport so much.”
She shot one season of trap in junior high and the following season was canceled due to Covid. When she entered her freshman year of high school last Fall her participation in the sport increased.
