Marsh Beck Invitational
The Minden Whippets girls and boys track and field team hosted the annual Marsh Beck Invitational held at Kuper Field in cool and windy conditions in Minden.
The Whippet boys came away with a third place finish scoring 91 points. Adams Central edged Broken Bow for the team title with a score of 143.5 and Broken Bow with 137. Holdrege was fourth with 71 followed by Grand Island Central Catholic with 36, Gibbon 27 and Cozad 21.5.
Jared Speer was a double gold medalist at the Whippets lone home meet this season. Speer won the 200 and 400-meters in times of 22.81 and 52.28. Peter Trauch was also a gold medalist in the boys shot put with an effort of 53’11”.
Craig Driver won the boys pole vault, topping 14’1″ while Ryan Bergstrom was second in the triple jump with a leap of 40’2.5″. Tyler Vaughn captured third in both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles in times of 15.65 and 41.93.
