Tempers flared when a resolution amending section 15.06 of the City of Minden Personnel Manual failed to garner a second and did not pass at the city council meeting on Monday, June 18.
Section 15.06 used to require “certain employees of the City of Minden to live within the zoning jurisdiction of the City of Minden.”
The proposed change would instead require personnel to live within 30 minutes of Minden, with certain personnel placed on a 24-hour call.
The amendment was introduced for multiple reasons. First and foremost according to Mayor Roger Jones, Police Chief James Huff has been unable to find qualified officers living in Minden or willing to move to Minden and has had to hire help outside city limits.
