During his announcements at the April 4 Minden City Council meeting, Mayor Ted Griess informed the council and public he had the pleasure of meeting with Minden preschool students earlier in the day to read and sign a proclamation declaring April 2-8 Week of the Young Child. He then read the proclamation encouraging the celebration of early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities.
Moving onto business items on the agenda, the council considered renewal of the City’s insurance with Travelers Insurance for 2022-23. City Administrator Matt Cederburg informed the council the City’s insurance policy is up for renewal and recommended renewing coverage with Travelers due to the complexities the City faces from unfinished roof repairs following the hail storm last May.
Because Travelers has increased their wind and hail deductible from $5,000 to $100,000, the quote presented to the council includes a buy back to bring the deductible to $10,000. Kevin Krull from Jones Group informed the council the biggest policy changes are for property and auto coverage. After answering the council’s questions about the changes, the council approved the renewal of Travelers Insurance for 2022-23 with the buy back wind and hail deductible.
