After winning in the opening round of the area tournament, First Bank took on McCook on July 20. McCook came from behind and scored all of its runs in the final three innings in downing First Bank 13-2 dropping First Bank to the losers’ bracket with a 7-16 record.
It looked good early for First Bank as the seniors got two runs in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead. Blake Riley singled, stole second, went to third on a single by Marshall Chasek and scored on an error. Chasek scored after a stolen base, an error and a passed ball. First Bank would score no more in the game, although three times in the contest left runners at third to end an inning.
McCook tied it with two in the fourth then scored five in the fifth and six in the sixth.
