Minden High School welcomed a second foreign exchange student at the beginning of second semester. Seventeen year old Emily Illing is from a small village near Frankfurt, Germany.
Emily left her parents and older sister to arrive in Minden on January 4. Already hosting exchange student Namfah Khumfu from Thailand, Larry and Allison Lempka welcomed Emily into their home as well.
“I think it’s good because I learn some things about some different cultures at one time,” Emily said.
She embarked on her exchange semester in an effort to improve her language skills and to get a feel for being on her own.
