Milford Tops Minden

Minden was the site of a state-rated clash when the undefeated and fifth-ranked Milford Eagles and eighth-ranked Minden Whippets met at Kuper Field in a non-district contest.
Milford built an early 20-0 lead before a determined group of Whippets fought back only to lose a 35-21 decision.
Minden drops its season mark to 5-2 and will close out the regular season and district play on Thursday, Oct. 21 when they travel to Grand Island to take on the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders at Memorial Field for the district championship.
“We just couldn’t get things going offensively until the second half,” stated Minden head coach Sam Dunn. “Milford had as much team speed as any team we played this year. I was pleased with our effort in the second half. We just allowed Milford to get an early lead and were unable to come back.”
The Eagles (7-0) got off to a great start against Minden as on the second play, Milford’s Kyle Herman scored on a 34-yard touchdown run to give the visitors an early lead 7-0.
