Five events from area schools qualified for the state competition during the D1-4 and B-5 District Speech meet hosted March 12 at Minden High School.
In the B-5 competition, the Minden team competed against Adams Central, Aurora, Broken Bow, Central City, Holdrege, and York. The home team had five events advance to the finals with three qualifying to the state competition.
Alaina Suchsland placed 6th in Informative; Leah Boudreau placed 5th in Entertainment, Markus Ramsey placed 3rd in Persuasive; Chase Villars and Lily Van Dusen placed 3rd in Duet Acting; and Jazmine Farr placed 1st in Poetry. The top three finishers in each event advance to state. Ramsey, Villars, Van Dusen, and Farr will compete in Kearney at UNK on Thursday, March 21.
