Minden Bandfest
38 Nebraska Bands (a new Bandfest record) made up of 1466 students, were in Minden for the 21st annual Minden Bandfest on Saturday, October 15th. Bandfest was sponsored by the Minden Chamber of Commerce.
Bands came from as far east as Yutan, NE, and Hershey, NE to the west. The smallest band was Amherst, consisting of 10 members. The largest band was Broken Bow, made up of 80 students.
From the staging area on west 1st street, the bands proceeded to Brown Avenue (hwy 10), turned north on Brown, and then west on 5th street proceeding back to the school.
The bands performed for the parade judges located at 4th and Brown, who judged the bands in three areas:
Music (40 pts), Marching (30 pts), General Effect (30 pts).
The Marching judge observed alignment, intervals, difficulty of drill, utilization of field, poise, posture, marching style, uniformity of step, and individual appearance.
