Minden Board Of Education Approves Issuance Of Bonds

The Minden Public Schools Board of Education met August 8 for their regular monthly meeting. A resolution regarding the $9 million issuance of General Obligation school construction bonds series 2016 was up for approval.
Although $10.16 million is available for issuance, Minden Public Schools wanted to make the bonds available locally and set the amount accordingly. With interest rates down, the board agreed now was the time to act. An interest rate of 1.75 percent will allow the school a fair return on the action. The resolution authorizing the issuance, sale, and delivery of General Obligation School Bonds not to exceed $9 million and related matters was approved.
A change order for the Minden High School building project was approved. Modifications to electrical, projection screen rigging, and changes in the parking lot were among the revisions included in Change order #10. The total cost of $77,394 for the changes will be deducted from the Boyd Jones contingency.
