Minden Board Of Education Approves Mission Statement

A public hearing regarding reaffirmation of Policy 5416, Student Fees, Policy 6400 Parental Involvement, and Policy 5415 Anti-Bullying was opened at the beginning of the June 14 regular meeting of the Minden Public Schools Board of Education. These policies are reaffirmed every year by the board.

Superintendent Jim Widdifield summarized each of the policies before the floor was opened to comments from the public. Jerry Kershner spoke to Policy 6400 urging the board to open communication to the public, not just parents, about what kids are doing in class especially with recent decisions made by the state school board. He encouraged the MPS school board to think about the policy in a proactive way to improve access to information to the public. With no further comments, the hearing was closed.

Board committees, administrators, and the superintendent shared their reports with the board. The Building and Grounds Committee had positive news about summer projects stating a majority of the equipment for the CL Jones HVAC project has been delivered and the sidewalk project on Gilman Avenue is progressing well.
