The Minden Public Schools Board of Education took action on the removal of real property at 509 W. 5th Street during the December 10 regular meeting. The house at that address was declared surplus property during the November meeting and a motion was approved to accept bids for its removal.
No bids were submitted by the December 6 deadline leaving the board to determine what to do with the property moving forward. The board determined it was in the district’s best interest to remove the house rather than renovate. A motion to authorize Superintendent Jim Widdifield to solicit bids for the demolition and removal of the house was approved.
A contract with Hugo Madera Hernandez as 4-12 Vocal Music Teacher for second semester of the 2019-20 school year was approved. Madera is currently student teaching both vocal and instrumental music in Harvard. He is a graduate of Grand Island High School and Hastings College with a background in vocal, show choir, instrumental music, and theater.
