Working tirelessly throughout the year, the Minden Booster Club contributes extra funding for high school athletics and cheer and dance squads through fund raising activities and membership drives. Recently, those funds helped purchase security cameras and production equipment. With help from the Booster Club, Minden High School is now able to webcast live events from C.L. Jones Gymnasium. Potential future purchases include mats for the walls in the C.L. Jones Gym and a coaches’ scouting software program.
Annually, the Booster Club donates $3,000 to Minden High School which is divided into three $1,000 gifts to a specific sports team or cheerleading or dance. All sports, cheerleading and dance are on a rotating basis to receive funding.
This year, the football team received new sideline jackets, the cross country team purchased a tent and dance squad will be enjoying their new mP3 adapter to use for the performances. In 2010, the softball team benefited from a new pitching machine, the cheerleaders received new duffle bags and the track team purchased 10 new hurdles.
Through their sale of name brand apparel, stadium chairs, blankets and hats to the student body, parents, and other Whippet fans, as well as other events, the Booster Club is able to give back a part of their proceeds to Minden’s student-athletes.
