The Minden Whippets track and field team competed on Thursday in the Dale Feeken Memorial Track Meet held in Hastings at Adams Central High School.
The Whippets girls and boys were both runners-up at the eight-team invite.
The Lady Whippets were second with 76 points while Fillmore Central won the invite title with 166 points and Superior was third with 69.
Minden was led by freshman Addison Woodward with two individual medals. Woodward won the girls 200-meters (26.5) and was third in the long jump (15’5″). Senior Bailey Petersen won the high jump, clearing 5’2″ while Sydney Phillips was second in the 3,200-meters with a time of 12:52.9.
Brooke Kissinger was third in the 400-meters in 1:04.2 while Katlyn Simonton was fifth in shot put with a throw of 33’5.5″.
On the boys side, Minden also was second with a team score of 93. Adams Central won its own boys team championship with 148 points while Gibbon was third with 66.
