Minden Boys Defeat Ainsworth, Heading To Fourth Straight Boys State Tourney

The Minden Whippets boys basketball team punched their ticket to the 2011 Nebraska State Boys Basketball Tournament March 10-12 in Lincoln on Feb. 28 as they defeated the Ainsworth Bulldogs 70-43 in the Class C1-5.
The Whippet will be making their 27th appearance in the boys state tourney and will looking to better their third place finish in 2010.
Minden (21-2) is headed to state for the fourth straight season and in the first round of the Class C-1 bracket on Thursday, March 10 at the Pershing Center the fifth-seeded Dawgs will draw the fourth-seeded Bishop Neumann Cavaliers (20-5).
The Minden/Bishop Neumann winner will advance to the semifinals on Friday, March 11 to take on either Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders (24-1) or the Wayne Blue Devils (19-7) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center with tip set for 2 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket in the first round will be third-seeded Norfolk Catholic Knights (23-2) vs. the sixth-seeded Hastings St. Cecilia Bluehawks (19-6)) and the second-seeded Kimball Longhorns (22-2) vs. the seventh-seeded Milford Eagles (21-3)
