Minden Boys Defeat Central City

The Minden Whippets boys basketball team rebounded from its only loss of the season on Saturday hosting the Central City Bison.
Derek Kissinger poured in 20 points to lead Minden (5-1) to a 73-28 victory over the Bison. Carlson Blum added 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Minden built an early lead and never looked back as Blum scored six points and Kissinger five as the Dawgs led 20-8 after the first.
In the second, Minden widened its gap led by Thomas Sinsel’s two three-pointers and six more points from Blum. The Whippets outscored the Bison 21-11 to hold a 41-19 lead at intermission.
Kissinger took over in the third period with five field goals including a three-pointer. He finished with 11 of the 19 points while Ben Petersen scored two of his 11 points in the contest. Defensively, the Dawgs shut down Central City in the third, holding them to only one field goal.
The Whippets lead was 60-21 entering the final eight minutes of play.
