The 28th annual Minden Bandfest on Saturday, October 13 will feature 36 marching bands from schools across the state. The Minden Chamber of Commerce sponsored event will begin with a competitive marching parade at 1:00 p.m.
The parade route will take bands along W. 1st Street, north on Brown Avenue, and west on W. 5th Street. A field competition at Kuper Field will follow the procession at approximately 3:00 p.m. with 9 bands performing.
Judging the competition this year will be Phil Parker of Hastings, Janet Palmer of Holdrege, and Dave Klein of Kearney. Scores will be awarded in three categories: Music, with a possible 40 points; Marching, with a possible 30 points; and General Effect, with a possible 30 points. Bands achieving an overall score of 80 points or higher will receive a Superior rating, 60-79 points an Excellent rating, and 40-59 points will earn a Good rating.
