Minden Chamber to Host Second Annual MAADays Celebration

The Minden Chamber of Commerce will host Minden’s 2nd Annual MAADays Celebration. MAAD stands for Manufacturing and Agriculture Appreciation Days, and the event is intended to highlight the many successful manufacturing and ag-related businesses that call Minden home. This year the Chamber hopes to build on the success of the first MAADays festival held last summer.
The event kicks off Friday evening with food vendors on the downtown square and a “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” contest. The fun continues Saturday morning with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, Fun Run/Walk, Antique Tractor Show, volleyball tournament, ping pong ball drop for kids and many other fun activities throughout the day. It all wraps up Saturday evening with a barbecue to benefit the Minden Chamber, a “Minute to Win It” contest, and a beer garden and street dance featuring the music of popular country band “Westwind.”  Those interested in participating in the fun run, basketball or volleyball tournaments are asked to preregister. Contestants for the “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” and “Minute to Win It” contests will be chosen on the spot.
Rusty Rhynalds, President of the Minden Chamber of Commerce states, “MAADays is simply a great event for the entire community. There are many opportunities for local groups to raise money and have fun at the same time. We also look at it as a way for the Chamber to bring people in from outside the community. This year we have at least three groups of high school alumni that are planning their reunions for the MAADays weekend. That’s exactly the kind of thing we had hoped would happen. It’s a win-win situation.”
A full event listing can be found on the Minden Chamber website at www.MindenNE.org or by contacting the Chamber office. MAADays is sponsored by Mason’s Market, Minden Exchange Bank & Trust Co., Rhynald’s Auction & Realty, Armagost Financial Group, Krull Agency of Minden, Minden Machine Shop, KRVN-AM, Nelson Agency, Inc., Nebraska Public Power District, and Vaughn’s Images & Embroidery.
