The Minden Lady Whippets have owned the Southwest Conference regular season and tournament championship in recent history. Minden claimed its sixth straight SWC title after winning the 2011 tournament in North Platte on Saturday.
Minden easily defeated the Cozad Haymakers by 30 points, 63-33, as the Whippet head toward a run at the girls state tournament. Minden is now 16-1 on the season.
“We got off to a good start and shot the ball really well,” stated Minden head coach Rick Chramosta. “We are looking forward to a state run.”
The Whippets got off to a great start in the championship game roaring to a 22-3 lead over Cozad. Brooke Kissinger got off fast knocking down four three-pointers and finishing with 21 points in the game.
In the second, Jamie Kissinger took charge with seven points as Minden outscored Cozad 14-13 to go into halftime with a 36-16 lead.
