The Minden Post 94 First Bank Seniors baseball team ended a state legion tournament drought that had reached 47 years. This year’s squad was in the eight-team field with Broken Bow, Hickman, Blair, Ogallala, Valparaiso, Columbus Lakeview and Waverly. The Class B tourney was played at Broken Bow beginning July 30.
First Bank went 0-2 at state, losing to Broken Bow 16-5 on July 30 and to Blair 9-1 on July 31 to finish a fine season with a 17-10 record.
Against Broken Bow on Saturday, First Bank got off to a great start scoring three runs in the top of the first. Broken Bow, however, scored all of its runs in the first four innings. Nine Minden errors helped Broken Bow considerably as, of the 16 runs Bow scored, only one was earned.
