Minden Girls Defeat Bennington For Title

The Minden Lady Whippets basketball team used a big first period scoring outburst and was able to hold off the Class B Bennington Badger to win the girls title in the 2010 Minden Holiday Tournament on its home court on Dec. 29.
Minden led Bennington 17-4 early as the Lady Whippets full court pressure gave the Badgers fits on the way to the 64-56 victory.
Minden’s hard-fought victory improves its record to 9-0 on the season.
“These games (Axtell and Bennington) were good wins for our basketball team,” stated Minden head coach Rick Chramosta. “Our team played hard in both games and competed well. We must improve our defense some and are looking forward to 2011 and keeping our momentum going.”
