Minden Girls Suffer First Loss To Northwest
The Minden Lady Whippets entered the 2012 Grand Island Northwest Tournament on December 27 as the smallest school in the mainly Class B field. The Whippets are the top-ranked team in Class C-1 but would face a fellow rated team in Class B, the seventh-ranked and once-beaten GINW Lady Vikings.
GINW (6-1) was able to use a second half surge to pull away from the Whippets and pick up the 66-46 victory. Minden falls to 8-1 on the season and fell into the consolation bracket where they faced the Holdrege Dusters in another tester game for the Whippets.
Brooke Kissinger led the way for the Dawgs with a team-high 24 points including making five three-pointers. Jamie Kissinger added nine points while Rebecca Stewart had eight and Sydney Stadler five.
