Boone Central won a third consecutive state title shooting a combined team score of 732. Wayne was second with a 757. Minden finished in eighth place with a two-day total of 839.
The Whippet golf team was paced by senior Elizabeth Grams who shot 97 and 104 for a total of 201. Grams placed 37th in the field of 95 players.
Freshman Ashton Boldt played outstanding golf carding rounds of 108 and 98 for a total of 206 placing her in a tie for 40th place overall. Junior Allie Geist finished with scores of 105 and 108 for a two-day score of 213, good enough for a tie for 54th place.
Freshman Jessica Rehtus played the round of her life shooting rounds of 108 and 111 to finish with a 219 total, placing in 63rd overall. Mariah Koch played very good golf coming in with rounds of 133 and 128. Koch’s tournament was highlighted by a very good 59 on her final nine holes for the state competition.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the way that these girls represented their school and community,” commented Minden head coach Steve Exstrom. “From top to bottom, these girls really competed both days leaving nothing on the course. Elizabeth and Allie played steady. Both girls wanted to shoot lower scores but it just didn’t happen. They really provided great leadership throughout the year and demonstrated to the younger girls what it takes to compete.”
