Minden Golfers Play At McCook

The Minden Whippet varsity golf team traveled to McCook on April 19 to participate in the 12-team McCook Invitational.
The Whippet golfers were welcomed with cold, wet and windy conditions that made play difficult.
Minden placed seventh in the team standings with a total of 387. McCook won the invite title with a score of 316 followed by North Platte in second with 346 while Kearney was third with a 352.
“This meet we struggled down the stretch,” stated Minden golf coach Eric Christensen. “McCook’s course is tough, but we didn’t play like we are capable of. Consistency is still our biggest issue and we will continue to work hard and try to build some consistency.”
Luke Pieper paced the Minden golfers with an 18-hole low score of 92 on the Heritage Hills Golf Course. Pieper fired a 44 on the front side of the course and finished off the back with a 48.
