Minden Golfers Win Districts; Next State

Coming off a third place showing at the Southwest Conference meet the previous Friday, Minden traveled back to Wild Horse Golf Course on Oct. 1 for the Class C-4 district meet. The conditions were extreme as winds blew 30 mph out of the north. Putting and chipping seemed to be affected the most as most scores soared upward. Minden did not seem to be fazed by the wind as they shot a very good 403 team score, capturing their second straight district title.
In 2011, Minden shot 419 at Southern Hills in winning the C-4 district title. Valentine, who had bested the Whippets on two other occasions, finished second with a 406 score. Gothenburg was third with a 419 team score. All three teams will represent their schools at the 2012 Class C girls golf meet held in Columbus on Oct. 8-9.
