Minden Mentoring Program Receives $5K Grant from State Farm Agent

Minden State Farm Agent Kim Snavely has a strong history of demonstrating what it means to be a Good Neighbor by helping her local community. The insurance agent presented the Minden TeamMates Chapter with a $5,000 State Farm® grant. They were selected by the agent as part of her recognition for being a State Farm 100 for Good® Champion.

“The mission of TeamMates Mentoring is to inspire students to reach their full potential through mentoring,” shares Darcie Reed, Director of the Minden TeamMates Chapter. “The Minden TeamMates Chapter has had the heart and passion for inspiring students for 21 years. We have many Mentors who have mentored for all of those years, along with previous mentees who are now mentors themselves, as well as serving on our Board of Directors,” she adds.

“Here at TeamMates, we don’t believe in “At Risk” … we’re all At Risk. We believe in investing in somebody who needs an adult friend to help light the way and be an opportunity to a student. Ninety two percent of Mentees are proud to be in TeamMates while 85% of Mentors leave with time mentoring feeling hopeful. We are creating positive ripples in our community and school district,” explains Darcie. “The $5,000 State Farm grant will help us expand our program to continue meeting these mentoring needs. We couldn’t be more grateful for Kim’s support!”
