Summer activities in Minden might be limited this year. City Administrator Matt Cederburg asked for direction concerning pools and summer sports during the May 4 community meeting.
Jeremy Eschliman of Two Rivers Public Health Department advised pools are typically a breeding ground for disease when there isn’t a pandemic so there is no reason to think they would be safer now. Although he admitted there may come a time during the summer that it will be safe to open, the general recommendation for pools at this time is that it is too early to say for sure. As for sports, they don’t meet social gathering limits of ten people or less.
State directed health measures allows elective surgery and other medical procedures to resume as well as in person church services as of May 4. Although restrictions have been lifted, it is up to churches and health centers to make their own decisions about resuming. TRPHD advises caution in these cases as Kearney County still remains in the area with continued health directives until May 31 and local cases continue to grow.
