The Minden First Bank Juniors trailed by nine runs after four and a half innings but scored eight in the bottom of the fifth to nearly pull off a huge comeback win on May 25 at Bjorklund Field in Minden. Ravenna was able to hold on and top First Bank 10-9. The Juniors record stands at 0-3. Ravenna scored four in the first, two in the second and three in the fourth to lead 9-0 after three and a half.
First Bank notched its first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth when Orrin Kuehn singled, stole second and scored on Jake Halvorsen’s single. At this point it was 9-1 in Ravenna’s favor.
Ravenna pushed across a single run in the top of the fifth to go up 10-1. Then First Bank mounted a big eight-run retort in the lower half of the fifth with a walk, walk, error, walk, two-run double by Austin Lutkemeier, K (one out), error, walk, walk, walk, K (two outs) and a two-run double by Rylan Holsten. The game then ended with First Bank’s third out of the inning, the team having come almost all the way back.
